1. A (not so) Subtle Phenomenon?

So Sunday is going to be a great day! Red letter, I say!

Sunday is the Alamo Draft-house ZombieWalk here in Austin. For those of you unaware of these amazing events, everyday people show up in zombie costumes (torn rags, blood, gore etc) and march—or dare I say lurch—around a city or town. You can also come dressed as a member of the elite military counter zombie unit, but don’t actually load your shotgun.

There is an art to good zombie walking: arms should be held stiffly out in front of you; eyes should be rolled back in your head; groans and growls should be emanating from you at a respectable volume; most importantly of all you should be moving in a Brownian fashion, a random particle bumping into things and rebounding—unless you sense a “normie” (non-zombie) then you are required to make a rapid shuffle in a beeline straight for this hapless victim.

Sunday is the beginning of Zombie week at the Alamo cinema, a week of B and C zombie films. It will be amazing.

I’ve been thinking we need theme zombies though. Like communist zombies, where everyone has torn olive drab and cigars, or scientist zombies—torn lab coats a must. I’d say grad student zombies, but that’d just be repetitive.

I hope everyone has a chance to experience a ZombieWalk at some point in his or her future. As a person who missed out on the flash mob fad, I have to say that this is infinitely cooler.
